My Intimate Poetry: Broken.

Does the heart never learn from its mistakes? ― Tammy-Louise Wilkins

The anniversary of naïve love arrived today.
She once awoke in bliss knowing he was there to stay;
When messages of sweet nothings lay upon her phone,
Unconditional love was all he’d ever shown.

A free spirit of her own will prior;
Then a bundle of insecurities and dread.
As his demeanour had begun to transpire,
Into the monster that crushed her ‘til she bled.

His sadistic needs consumed her completely;
Weakness taking hold and a mind in disarray.
Perturbing pieces of the puzzle revealed discreetly;
As all their cherished memories faded away.

Now left with only the fragments of a heart;
The memories of the many tears that were shed.
She bled until the very day of the penultimate depart;
Now so empty for her soul was dead.
